Alamance County Sheriff’s Office – Civil Process Information
Civil Processes
Civil documents — including summonses, subpoenas, notices, motions, orders, writs, and pleadings — are served at a rate of $30.00 per defendant.
Out-of-State Civil Processes
For out-of-state civil process submissions, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) will complete an ACSO Affidavit of Service in place of any out-of-state affidavit forms.
All out-of-state processes will be attempted and/or served in accordance with the North Carolina Rules of Civil Procedure, as outlined in the North Carolina General Statutes. Accordingly, ACSO completes civil process returns using the requirements of North Carolina law only — not the laws of other states.
