On Saturday, August 19, 2023, Deputies received a report of larceny which occurred at the Mountain View Ruritan Club on Mount Herman-Rock Creek Rd., Snow Camp, N.C. A club member reported the larceny of a zero-turn lawnmower belonging to the club.
During the investigation, Detectives developed James Russell Kellam as a suspect. On September 7, 2023, Detectives located and recovered the mower on property adjacent to Mr. Kellam’s residence.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Kellam charging him with the larceny. On Friday, September 15, 2023, Mr. Kellam was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) Detectives received a call from Moses Cone hospital in Reidsville, N.C., regarding a female who was allegedly assaulted both physically and sexually. Detectives were told that the alleged assault took place on Green Level Loop, Burlington, N.C.
The female victim stated that she was at the home of her boyfriend Tyson Lamar Garner. During the investigation, the victim stated that while she and her child were at Mr. Garner’s house, he became upset and began strangling her and assaulted her multiple times including sexual assault. The victim stated this occurred in the presence of her minor child. Detectives also discovered the child told the boyfriend to stop and leave the mother alone at which point Mr. Garner allegedly grabbed and assaulted the child.
Detectives were able to establish probable cause and took out arrest warrants for Mr. Garner. Detective’s also obtained and served a search warrant at Mr. Garner’s residence where evidence was collected.
Mr. Garner was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 8:30 p.m. He was released after posting bond on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 6:24 p.m.
Beginning Tuesday, August 15, 2023 thru Wednesday, August 23, 2023, multiple larceny reports were received by the ACSO. The larcenies were reported to have occurred in the 3500 block and the 3800 block of Fleming Graham Rd. in northern Alamance County, the 2900 block of Greystone Dr., and the 3200 block of Calloway Dr. both near Mebane.
The larcenies included two enclosed trailers, a boat and trailer, a truck, utility trailer, and two zero turn mowers. Detectives worked many hours developing suspects, recovering property, and made eight (8) arrests so far. Detectives have determined each of the larcenies are related. Twenty-five charges have been filed so far and most of the property has been recovered totaling $34,200.

On Friday, August 4, 2023 Special Victims Unit (SVU) Investigators received information that a known sex offender, Christopher Shea Wagoner, was unable to be located. Mr. Wagoner’s Probation Officer had attempted to make contact with Wagoner at his last known registered address.
On Monday, August 8, 2023, SVU Investigators attempted to locate Wagoner at the same residence. Investigators were also unable to locate Wagoner.
On Thursday, August 17, 2023 SVU Investigators charged Wagoner with failing to report in person to the Sheriff’s office as required by law.
Wagoner was arrested and served the same day by the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office. He was also served with probation violation and given a $20,000 secured bond.
Mr. Wagoner was transported to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where he remains.

Charge: 1 ct: Felony Fail to Register as sex offender, 1ct: Felony Probation Violation
On Thursday, July 27, 2023, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Detectiveswith the Special Victims Unit (SVU), received multiple ICAC tips (internet crimes against children) from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. The ICAC tips indicated that child sexual abuse material (CSAM) had been uploaded at a residence in southern Alamance County.
During the investigation, SVU Detectives discovered that the suspect, Jeffrey Simmons, had allegedly uploaded CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) to an IMGUR account. IMGUR is an image hosting, image sharing web-based platform.
On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, SVU Detectives conducted a search warrant at Mr. Simmons’ residence. During the execution of the search warrant, Detectives were able to establish probable cause to arrest and charge Mr. Simmons. Mr. Simmons was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

On Monday, August 7, 2023, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU), began an investigation of a school administrator allegedly involved in misconduct with a student.
SVU Investigators conducted interviews and gathered evidence during the initial investigation. As a result of their discovery, Investigators arrested Assistant Southern Alamance Middle School Principal James Tyler Kelly. Mr. Kelly was taken into custody at a residence in High Point, NC by ACSO Investigators and the High Point Police Department. Mr. Kelly was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
Investigators determined the alleged misconduct did not occur on ABSS school property.
Mr. Kelly was previously Assistant Principal at Southern Alamance High School before being transferred to Southern Alamance Middle School in June.

On August 2nd, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) was notified by the ACSO Sex Offender Clerk that registered sex offender, Patrick McComb failed to register two social media accounts in person at ACSO, as pursuant to the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry’s duty to report online identifiers. On August 3, 2023, Mr. McComb was arrested and charged with 1 ct. F-Failure to Register Sex Offender and given a $2,500 secured bond.

On 08/01/2023 Investigators went out to Mr. Foreman’s registered address located at 3437 Shepherd Rd, lot 63, Elon NC for a verification check. No contact was made with Mr. Foreman. A pink door hanger was left at that residence. Mr. Foreman was found to be incarcerated at the Person County Jail. Contact was made with Person County and warrants were served by Person County.

On July 28th, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) was notified that registered sex offender, Randy Gonzalez failed to bring in his certified verification letter within three days in person at ACSO, as pursuant to the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry. On August 1, 2023, Mr. Gonzalez was arrested and charged with 1 ct. F-Failure to Register Sex Offender and given a $30,000 secured bond.
