County Man Victim of Credit Card Theft, Local Couple Arrested

On Friday February 2, 2022, Burlington Police notified Sheriff’s Office Investigators of Financial Card Theft. BPD took an initial report at the victim’s Burlington bank and determined the theft occurred within the Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction.

During the investigation, Jesse Evans and Crystal Aviles were identified as suspects. The couple were located in a Burlington motel on Wednesday February 9, 2022. Both were taken to the Sheriff’s Office for questioning. The suspects were arrested and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center the same day.

They are accused of theft and charging goods and services up to $2,500.

Mebane Man Charged with Six Counts Felony Sexual Exploitation of a Minor

In early December 2021, investigators with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Human Exploitation Team (HET), began investigating a cyber tip. Investigators had reason to believe that an individual in the County, uploaded Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) files to Snapchat, a multimedia instant messaging app. The investigation lead to a suspect residing on Brundage Lane, Mebane, North Carolina.

On Friday, February 11, 2022, HET and investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU), conducted a search warrant at 3547 Brundage Lane. Investigators discovered files, images and videos, of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Investigators also seized a small amount of marijuana and an item of drug paraphernalia. Investigators identified the suspect as Seth Ryan Carter of the residence.

Mr. Carter was arrested and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Deputies Charge Elon Man With Attempting to Take Copper From Local Church

On Tuesday morning February 8, 2022 at 8:42 a.m., Deputies responded to a ‘Suspicious Person’ call at Pollard Ave. and Melrose Dr., Burlington. On arrival, Deputies began talking with the subject. While on scene, a call was received that a witness saw a person at Zion Church, 2262 Burch Bridge Rd., Burlington, N.C. and that damage to wiring and a cut gas line had been discovered.

Additional Deputies arrived at the nearby Church where the witness stated that a male subject wearing a red hoodie, gray jeans, black cap with a bookbag, was walking around the Church and appeared to be tampering with the power meter. The description matched that of the person Deputies were speaking with at Pollard Ave. and Melrose Dr. The subject was identified as Robert Edward Jeffers.

With a statement from the witness and discovery of evidence, Mr. Jeffers was arrested and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Damage to the gas line and electrical wires was estimated to be $5,000.

Graham Man Charged With Three Counts Felony Sexual Exploitation of a Minor

In early November 2021, investigators with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Human Exploitation Team (HET), began investigating a cyber tip. The investigation lead to a suspect residing on S NC Highway 87, Graham.

On Wednesday, February 9, 2022, HET and investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU), conducted a search warrant at 6831 S. N.C. Hwy 87, Graham, N. C. Investigators discovered

files, which had been uploaded to the web, in addition to other Child Sexual Abuse Material. Investigators identified the suspect as Zachary Nicholas Foushee of the residence.

Mr. Foushee was arrested and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Routine Traffic Stop Brings Forth Charges Against Orange County Woman

On Wednesday February 9, 2022, Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2700 block of South NC 87 Highway at 14:06 p.m. for improper equipment. During the course of the traffic stop, a K-9 conducted a exterior sniff of the vehicle. The K-9 gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics. During a search of vehicle, deputies located methamphetamine in passenger’s purse. The passenger, identified as Nadia Kay Nasseri, was arrested and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center. The driver was not charged.

Couple Charged With Felony B&E and Larceny After B&E

On Monday February 7, 2022 at approximately 5:18 p.m., Deputies responded to the 5600blk of S. N.C. 62 on a report of breaking and entering. On arrival, Deputies discovered a silver Acura in the driveway which was running.

Deputies detained a male and a female subject. The female told Deputies that she was taking pictures of the house.

On further investigation, Deputies discovered the house had been broken into and personal property taken. The couple was arrested and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Check Well Being Leads To Felony Charges

On Wednesday February 9, 2022 at 9:09 a.m., Deputies observed an unconscious male subject in a vehicle near the2200blk of Swepsonville Rd. south of Graham. Deputies self-initiated a check well-being. Deputies determined the male subject, identified as Joshua Lee Gilbert, was not in medical distress.

After verification of the Mr. Gilbert’s identity, it was learned that he had two outstanding warrants in Guilford Co. Mr. Gilbert was then placed under arrest. During a search, incident to arrest, Deputies located 4.59 grams of marijuana and needles on his person.

Deputies then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located .52 grams of fentanyl and .59 grams of methamphetamine inside a cigarette pack on the passenger seat. Deputies also located a Ford catalytic converter in the trunk of the vehicle.

Mr. Gilbert was taken to the Alamance County Detention Center where he was served with the outstanding warrants from Guilford County, which had a preset $20,000 secured bond. Mr. Gilbert received an additional $3,500 secured bond for charges in Alamance Co.

Employee Facing Multiple Felony Charges

On January 13, 2022, Cox Dodge of Burlington reported to the Sheriff’s Office that they suspected an employee was making unauthorized purchases using a company credit card. Sheriff’s Office investigators discovered that employee, Jamison Antawn Jeffers, had made approximately $5,000 dollars in unauthorized gas purchases, with the card. Mr. Jeffers was arrested January 27, 2022.

Erratic Driving Leads To Felony Arrests

On Tuesday February 1, 2022 at approximately 1:10pm, an Alamance County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a vehicle driving in an erratic manor on Bellemont-Mount Hermon Rd. The Deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the driver sped up in an attempt to flee. The vehicle drove through a field on Spring Lane, later turning onto Southern High School Road. The chase was called off due to a nearby school zone

Minutes later, the suspect vehicle was located behind a residence on Southern High School Rd. As Deputies approached, the suspect once again drove off attempting to flee. The suspect vehicle came to a stop in a field in the 4100 block of Mt Hermon-Rock Creek Rd.

The driver was apprehended and identified as Rickie Alan Cook Jr. 

During a search of the vehicle, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was located. Mr. Cook was arrested and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Security Camera Video Leads To Arrest

On January 17, 2022, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Breaking & Entering on Burch Bridge Rd. Burlington, N.C. The victim told Deputies that someone broke into a storage building on his property and stole approximately $350 dollars’ worth of Milwaukee tools. The victim provided Investigators with security camera footage of the incident. Using the footage, Investigators identified Jerry Lynn Coleman as the suspect. Mr. Coleman was arrested the same day and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center.
