Man Leads Deputies On Chase After Assaulting Female And Taking Her Car in Davidson County
On Sunday morning March 6, 2022, Deputies received an attempt to locate from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a Common Law Robbery and Assault on a Female. The suspect, Walter Ray Sykes, was identified as the person who pushed an 81-year-old female to the ground and stealing her vehicle outside of a gas station in Davidson County at approximately 9:47 A.M. the same morning.
At 12:39 P.M., Alamance County Deputies located the vehicle traveling south on S Main St in Graham. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle driven by a subject matching the description of Sykes in a vehicle matching the description from the attempt to locate. Deputies attempted a traffic stop near Swepsonville Rd and Dixon Rd., but the suspect fled. Deputies initiated a pursuit resulting in the apprehension of Walter Ray Sykes a short time later on I-40/I-85 at exit 141.
Mr. Sykes was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
