On Tuesday May 17, 2022, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of larceny of construction supplies from Windsor Homes at the Kernodle Landing sub-division off of Gerringer Mill Rd., Burlington, N.C. Investigators identified Jerry Lynn Coleman as the suspect.
A search warrant was issued for Mr. Coleman’s residence. During the search, stolen property was located including property from other construction sites in northern Alamance County.
So far, the Sheriff’s Office has identified and recovered $6,900.00 dollars of construction supplies and tools. This investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
On Saturday May 21, 2022, Deputies responded to a report of larceny of diesel fuel at a construction site on North Jim Minor Rd. Deputies began an investigation and identified Jeffrey Andrew Spears as a suspect. It was learned that Mr. Spears was driving a white in color Ford diesel truck with fictitious tags. Deputies learned the truck had been stolen earlier in Graham.
In the early morning hours of Sunday May 22, 2022, Deputies found the stolen Ford truck on Lakeside Ave., Burlington, NC.
As the investigation continued, a Harley Davidson Motorcycle was recovered which had been reported to the Sheriff’s Office as stolen. Mr. Spears was the suspect in the motorcycle theft.
On Sunday morning May 22, 2022, Graham Police Department Officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit with a suspect who was believed to be stealing fuel from a construction site off Lacy Holt Rd. The suspect, driving a white Chevrolet truck, crashed on Tucker St. in Burlington and fled the scene on foot. The suspect was believed to be Mr. Spears.
While assisting the Burlington Police Department and the Graham Police Department with locating the suspect, a Sheriff’s Office K-9 found Mr. Spears attempting to hide in the crawlspace of a residence on Turrentine St. in Burlington. Mr. Spears was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
It was determined that Mr. Spears, upon abandoning the white Ford truck Saturday night, later stole the white Chevrolet which was involved in the Graham pursuit. Graham Police and Burlington Police will have additional warrants for Mr. Spears.

On Wednesday May 11, 2022, Deputies with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a known registered sex offender on the property of the Graham Regional Park, 1575 N. Jim Minor Rd., Haw River, N.C. During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect, Roger Gene Stone III, was on park property.
As a result of the investigation, probable cause was found to charge Mr. Stone with one count of sex offender at or near child premise.
On Thursday May 19, 2022, Mr. Stone surrendered himself to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office where he was taken into custody.

On Tuesday May 9, 2022, the Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes and Special Operations Units began an investigation of suspected narcotics distribution from a Burlington residence. The suspects were identified as Tyrell Gregory Watlington and Rodney Lamar Bell. During the investigation, on Monday May 16, 2022, Mr. Watlington was stopped for a speeding violation on I-40 east at Huffman Mill Rd. Mr. Watlington was accompanied by Mr. Bell.
A K-9 gave positive indication of contraband in the vehicle. Deputies conducted a probable cause search and located 172.95 grams of cocaine located under the front passenger seat of the vehicle.
Mr. Watlington and Mr. Bell were placed under arrest. During a search of Mr. Watlington’s person, Deputies found .81 grams of fentanyl in his possession. A search of Mr. Bell’s person found him to be in possession of 3.86 grams of marijuana.
Pursuant to the investigation and traffic stop, a search warrant was conducted at Mr. Watlington’s residence, 344 Foster St., Burlington, NC. During a search of the residence, an additional 43.98 grams of cocaine, 14.66 grams of fentanyl, 3.36 grams of marijuana, 31 dosage units of Suboxone, 1 dosage unit of Lorazepam, and a stolen firearm were located. Both suspects were transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

On Sunday Morning May 15, 2022 at 12:27 a.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop on N. NC 49 and E. Simpson Rd in Green Level, N.C. The vehicle was stopped for displaying an unreadable license plate.
During the stop, Deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Deputies located two (2) baggies of marijuana and $10,245 in cash.
The driver, identified as Kevin Guzman Sanchez, and the passenger/owner of the vehicle, Michaell Humberto Gutierrez, were arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

On Tuesday May 10, 2022, members of the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Human Exploitation Team conducted an undercover operation, investigating individuals who were soliciting prostitution. During the investigation, Detectives conducted a traffic stop on an individual who had solicited prostitution for money. That individual was identified as Leopoldo Adrian Vargas.
A probable cause search was conducted on Mr. Vargas’ vehicle where 82 grams of marijuana was located inside the trunk of his vehicle. Mr. Vargas was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
On Wednesday May 11, 2022 at approximately 10:30p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. The stop took place at Cooper Rd. and E. Harden St. in Graham, N.C. While talking with the driver, Deputies detected the odor of marijuana and observed the contraband in plain view.
During a probable cause search of the vehicle, Deputies found approximately 115 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of a THC edible, and various items of drug paraphernalia.
The driver, identified as Rashaad Mikeon Morrow, was arrested and transported to the Alamance Counter Detention Center.

On Wednesday morning May 11th 2022 at 9:00 a.m., Deputies encountered a suspicious vehicle in 5600blk of S. NC 62 Hwy. Deputies were told by the driver that the vehicle ran out of gas.
Deputies observed that the passenger, identified as Brandon Eastwood, was unconscious. Deputies were unable to wake him and called EMS. After several minutes, Mr. Eastwood woke up. Deputies observed a folded piece of paper in Mr. Eastwood’s lap containing approximately 2.2 grams of methamphetamine.
EMS crews on scene checked out Mr. Eastwood and determined no further medical attention was needed.
Mr. Eastwood was arrested and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center.
On Wednesday April 27th 2022, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit was made aware of allegations of sexual assaults to a child. During the investigation, Deputies identified the suspect as Jesse Clayton Garner.
Mr. Garner was charged with 6 counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child on May 3, 2022. Mr. Garner was arrested after turning himself in to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office on May 4, 2022.
On Thursday, May 5th 2022, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Deputies with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Strike Teams conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the city of Burlington.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop immediately for the blue lights and siren and continued to drive the vehicle for about a block before coming to a stop. As this appeared to be suspicious to the Strike Team members, further investigation was conducted.
As a result of a positive alert from a K9 trained to alert to the odor of narcotics, a search of the vehicle was conducted. Upon the search, narcotics, currency and 2 firearms were seized from the vehicle.
Both occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody and booked into the Alamance County Detention Center.
