Three Arrested During Traffic Stop After K9 Alerted To Presence Of Narcotics

On Thursday June 9th, 2022, Deputies assigned to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team and the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 700 block of Rauhut St. in Burlington.

During the investigation, a Sheriff’s Office K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and the three occupants. As a result of the search, drug paraphernalia and a total of 4.73 grams of cocaine was located and seized. The three occupants were placed into custody and booked into the Alamance County Detention Center.

Mebane ‘Lyft’ Driver Charged With Indecent Liberties With A Child Passenger

On Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 8:14 p.m., Alamance County Deputies received a report of an open line to 911. The call originally was answered by Orange County Communications. Orange County quickly determined the caller was possibly in a moving vehicle entering Alamance County from Orange County. The call was then transferred to Alamance County Central Communications. Alamance Telecommunicators immediately advised Alamance County Deputies of the open line.

Deputies got the caller’s number from Alamance Communications and initiated a text exchange. Deputies learned the call was from one of three (3) passengers in a Lyft vehicle heading to an address in Alamance County. The caller was reporting that the driver of the Lyft vehicle was asking personal questions and had touched the leg of an 11-year-old child in the car.

Deputies met the victims at their destination and conducted interviews. The victims identified the suspect as Miguel Angel Rodriguez. Mr. Rodriguez was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

More charges are possible pending further investigation.

Man Arrested After Physical Domestic Disturbance With Injury In The Presence Of A Minor

On Thursday morning June 2, 2022 at 8:40 a.m., Deputies responded to a report of a physical domestic disturbance in the 5300blk of Mt. Olive Church Rd. On arrival, Deputies could hear an active disturbance inside a camper on the property. Deputies made contact with a male and female who were inside.

The male subject, identified as Bryan Robert Burke, was asked to step outside of the camper. Mr. Burke stated that he and his girlfriend had been arguing but nothing physical had occurred.

In speaking with the female, Deputies immediately noticed signs of serious injury including bruising and bleeding. After speaking with the female, Mr. Burke was placed under arrest and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

The assaults occurred in the presence of a minor who was not physically injured.

Wanted Absconder Arrested and Charged With Stealing Firearm

June 3, 2022

On Monday March 28, 2022, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen firearm from a residence on Freshwater Rd., Haw River, NC. Investigators learned that while the victim was in the hospital receiving care, a male subject who was residing at the residence, was believed to have stolen a firearm from the victim’s room.

The suspect, identified as Joshua Scott Rector, left the residence while the victim was still in the hospital and did not return. Multiple attempts to locate Mr. Rector were unsuccessful.

As the investigation continued, more information was gathered as to the possible whereabouts of Mr. Rector. It was also learned that Mr. Rector was wanted by Probation and Parole as an absconder.

On Thursday June 2, 2022, the U.S. Marshalls Service arrested Mr. Rector at a residence in Liberty, N.C. and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

County Man Charged With Statutory Rape and Indecent Liberties With A Child

On Wednesday June 1, 2022, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Investigators received a report of a sexual assault that occurred involving a minor. During the investigation, Mario David Gutierrez-Carillo was identified as the suspect.

As the investigation continued throughout the day, Investigators developed probable cause to charge Mr. Gutierrez-Carillo.

Later in the afternoon of the same day, Investigators went to Mr. Gutierrez-Carillo’s residence where he was taken into custody without incident. Mr. Gutierrez-Carillo was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center

Routine Traffic Stop Nets Multiple Felony Drug Charges Against Driver

On Wednesday June 2, 2022, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit conducted a traffic stop on S. Mebane St. Burlington, NC with Cadillac sedan. The vehicle was operated by Mr. Craig William Dunn. 

During the traffic stop, Deputies found probable cause to search the vehicle and Mr. Dunn. The search resulted in the seizure of approximately 44 grams of suspected cocaine, 12.4 grams of marijuana, several items of drug paraphernalia and $1,300 in US currency.

Mr. Dunn was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Alamance County Deputies Presented Hero Award For Assisting In The Return Of 14-Year- Missing Davidson County Girl

On Wednesday May 25, 2022, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in Arlington, Va., honored Officers who went above and beyond to help protect children.

When a 14-year-old girl was abducted in Davidson County by someone she met online and taken more than 700 miles from her home, six agencies across states came together to make sure that girl made it back to her family safely. 

Early on in the investigation, it was discovered that the victim was using her Davidson County Schools issued computer to communicate with the suspect using multiple online platforms. 

Alamance County Special Victims Unit Investigators discovered the same person was also talking to several other juvenile females in Alamance County. 

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office was able to interview these juveniles and use forensic computer technology to provide beneficial information regarding the suspect.

Lieutenants Jaleesa Alston and Zachary Ray of the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office each received a Hero Award for their hard work and dedication during the investigation.

Sheriff Johnson attended the award ceremony. Sheriff Johnson said, “This is a prime example of agencies working together to get these predators off our streets. I am very proud of these two Officers for their work in getting this child home.”

Disseminating Harmful Material To A Minor Draws Felony Charges Against Gibsonville Man  

On Tuesday May 17, 2022, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Human Exploitation Team (SVU) began investigating a report of an individual sending inappropriate pictures to who he believed was an underage juvenile.

During the investigation it was determined that the suspect, Joshua Braxton Bailey, did send pictures to an individual that he thought was a juvenile.

On Monday May 23, 2022, Mr. Bailey was arrested and charged with two felony counts of disseminating harmful material to minors under the age of 16 years. He was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center and placed under a $10,000 secure bond.

Guilford County Man Charged With Possession Of Stolen Goods

On Tuesday May 17, 2022, Deputies received a report of a stolen 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle had been stolen from a residence in the 2100blk of Bellemont-Alamance Road, Burlington, N.C. The motorcycle was believed to have been stolen between Sunday May 1, 2022 and Tuesday May 17, 2022.

During the investigation, Deputies learned that Gene Fitch Oliver III was in possession of the motorcycle.

On Tuesday May 24, 2022, Mr. Oliver was charged with Possession of Stolen Goods/Property for his involvement in the case and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center.

This case remains under investigation.

Suspect Attempts To Flee While Driving Vehicle Stolen From Alamance County Resident

On Wednesday May 18, 2022, Deputies responded to the 3400-Block of S 119 NC Hwy, Haw River, North Carolina in reference to a stolen 2004 Volkswagen Jetta. The victim reported that he had at least $4,000 worth of tools in the Jetta at the time the car was stolen.  During the investigation, Alamance County Deputies entered the stolen vehicle in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and sent a B.O.L.O. (be on the lookout). 

On Thursday May 19, 2022, Deputies with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as William Cooper, failed to stop and attempted to flee. Chatham County Deputies brought the chase to an end and arrested Mr. Cooper. Mr. Cooper was transported to the Chatham County Detention Center.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office charged Mr. Cooper with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and Felony Larceny. Mr. Cooper received a $10,000 secured bond.

Mr. Cooper was charged by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, reckless driving to endanger, fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, failure to stop at stop sign/flashing red light, failure to maintain lane control, speeding, resisting a public officer, and driving while license revoked – impaired revocation. He was issued a $25,000.00 secured bond.

Mr. Cooper was also arrested on an Orange County warrant for injury to personal property and assault on a female. He was placed on a 48-hour Domestic Violence hold.
