Registered Sex Offender Fails To Report Social Media Accounts

On Tuesday November 8, 2022, Detectives with the Special Victim’s Unit opened an investigation of an anonymous tip received via email. The tip was in reference to a registered sex offender with active non-registered social media accounts. Registered sex offenders must register all social media and email accounts with the Sheriff’s Office in the county they reside.

During the investigation, Detectives identified the suspect as Pedro Virola Jr. Detectives found that Mr. Virola Jr. had active Facebook, Instagram and Twitter social media accounts which violates required Reporting Electronic Identifiers.

Detectives also learned that Mr. Virola Jr. had a total of 7 social media accounts, including 2 email accounts since his release in 2019.  Mr. Viola Jr. was arrested and charged on Wednesday November 9, 2022 and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Convicted Felon Charged With Possessing Weapons Of Mass Destruction

On Monday November 7, 2022, Deputies responded to the 1000 block of Burch Bridge Rd. Burlington, N.C. in reference to a subject shooting a firearm and making threats to harm himself and others. On arrival, Deputies located the subject and identified him as Christopher Michael Caulder. Because of threatening statements made by Mr. Caulder, he was detained and questioned.

Deputies discovered that Mr. Caulder is a convicted felon. According to witnesses, Mr. Caulder had numerous firearms, and a large amount of ammunition in the home. As the investigation continued, Detectives with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office responded and executed a search warrant.

Deputies found 21 firearms including three short barrel rifles with fixed stocks, a fully automatic machine gun, thousands of rounds of ammunition, multiple sets of protective body armor, a gas mask, and a large amount of firearm accessories which were seized.

Mr. Caulder was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

This case remains under investigation.

Son Charged With Exploitation of an Elder

On Thursday October 20, 2022, Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit responded to the 2700 block of Holly Brook Dr., Burlington, N.C., to investigate a report of Exploitation of an Elder. The report was originally received on October 5, 2022 by Adult Protective Services.

The report was filed by Mr. Freeman Montgomery, the victim’s son. During the investigation, Mr. Montgomery claimed that while the victim, his mother, was hospitalized, other family members were attempting to use her financial cards.

As the investigation continued, Detectives discovered multiple unauthorized charges on the victim’s debit cards by Mr. Montgomery. Detectives also discovered that Mr. Montgomery had the victim’s wallet which contained the victim’s driver’s license, social security card, two debit cards and an EBT card in his possession.

Mr. Montgomery surrendered the property to Detectives and admitted that he did not receive permission from the victim to make purchases with the debit cards. Mr. Montgomery provided highlighted and initialed receipts of charges made with the cards totaling $1,922.48.

Mr. Montgomery was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Passengers Charged With Possession Of Firearm By Felon During Traffic Stop

On Tuesday November 1, 2022 at 12:22 p.m., Deputies observed a vehicle near the intersection of NC 54 Hwy and Salem Church Rd. which displayed an expired temporary license plate. A vehicle stop was conducted in the 4900 block NC 54 Hwy near Graham, N.C. The vehicle was occupied by the driver and three passengers. During the stop a K9 gave positive indication of contraband.

Deputies conducted a probable cause search and found a loaded handgun concealed in the rear passenger area of the vehicle.

Two occupants in the back seat of the vehicle were each charged with possession of a firearm by Felon.

Deputies Respond To Domestic Call, Man Charged With Assault By Strangulation

On Monday October 31, 2022 at 4:47 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to a physical domestic disturbance at 1538 Southern High School Rd., Graham, N.C. While on scene, Deputies learned that Mr. Matthew Ryan Wilkinson and his girlfriend were arguing and escalated to a physical confrontation.

While interviewing the victim, Deputies noticed red marks on the sides and back of the victim’s neck. The victim and witnesses stated the marks were believed to have occurred when Mr. Wilkerson grabbed and pulled off a necklace that the victim was wearing.

Mr. Wilkerson was then arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Traffic Stop Becomes A Pursuit, Leads To Felony Arrests

On Sunday October 30, 2022 at 6:55 p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of N. N.C. Highway 49 and Anderson Road near Green Level. The vehicle displayed a fictitious registration plate and had an equipment violation.

The driver initially pulled over but then fled as Deputies were walking to the vehicle. Deputies then engaged in a vehicle pursuit which lasted approximately six (6) miles.

At the intersection of Beaumont Ave. and N. Church St. in Burlington, the violator struck another vehicle and wrecked in the parking lot of a convenience store located at 1382 N Church St., Burlington.

The driver fled on foot, the passenger was detained at the scene. With the help of a K-9, the driver was located after a brief search.

The driver was identified as Paris Lamonte Gant and the passenger was identified as Trevonte Jaquan McGhee.

During a search of the vehicle, Deputies located marijuana and three firearms.

Vehicle B&E In Alamance County Has Nationwide Reach, One Suspect Arrested

On Thursday August 4, 2022, Deputies with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office responded to a park on 5550 Church Rd, near Saxapahaw, N.C. in reference to a vehicle break in. On arrival, the victim, stated that the window had been broken out on his 2017 Kia Soul.

The victim reported that his friend’s purse had been taken which included a driver license and multiple credit/debit cards. While deputies were on scene taking the report, the owner of the purse received a notification that one of her cards was currently being used at Walmart in Mebane.

As the investigation continued, Detectives were able to collect photographs of a suspect and a receipt from Walmart. Detectives tracked gift cards bought by the suspect and discovered they were used in Raleigh to purchase money orders. Detectives then tracked the money orders to Fritz St. Louis Jr. Mr. St. Louis was identified from photographs at Walmart and Food Lion where another fraudulent purchase was made.

The whereabouts of Mr. St. Louis were unknown until Detectives recently received a phone call from the St. Charles County Missouri Sheriff’s Office. Detectives in Missouri reported that they had chased B&E suspects from a local park. After catching the suspects, they identified Mr. St Louis as one of the offenders and Torian Fields as the other.

Using forensic technology authorized by a search warrant, Detectives found evidence leading back to the Alamance County incident from August 4, 2022. Mr. St. Louis was later arrested in Wake County and is currently incarcerated there. Mr. Fields has not yet been arrested.

Mr. St Louis’ co-conspirator, Torian Fields, also from Raleigh, N.C., has not yet been arrested.

These individuals are most likely associated with the Felony Lane Gang which has been targeting vehicles in parks across the country.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered After Routine Traffic Stop, County Woman Arrested

On Wednesday afternoon October 26, 2022, Deputies conducted a routine traffic stop on a black Honda Civic in the 3500blk of S NC 87 south of Graham, N.C. The driver, identified as Merandi Rogers, was observed making an unsafe movement.

During the traffic stop, Deputies discovered the vehicle was stolen out of Guilford county. Ms. Rogers was arrested and transported to Alamance County Detention Center.

Traffic Stop Leads To Felony Arrest Of Passenger

On Monday October 17, 2022 at 12:53 p.m., Deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit executed a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling south on NC 87. The vehicle was observed by Deputies driving left of center. The traffic stop occurred on N.C. 87 near Woods Chapel Rd. south of Graham, N.C.

During the stop, one of the passengers, who is known to Deputies, provided a false name. Deputies verified the passenger’s identity as Michael Todd Hargrove who had an outstanding warrant.

Mr. Hargrove was taken into custody and transported to Alamance County Jail. During the booking process, Mr. Hargrove was searched and found to have Heroin on his person.

Haw River Couple Charged With Multiple Felonies After Breaking and Entering

On Wednesday September 28, 2022, a homeowner in the 3700 block of Doe Ln., Haw River, N.C., reported a break-in and larceny. The homeowner presented video surveillance of the B&E to Sheriff’s Office Detectives.

As the investigation continued, Detectives determined the suspect to be Jackson Ramirez who lives in the same neighborhood. Mr. Ramirez was arrested and given a $10,000 bond.

After bonding out of jail on Saturday October 15, 2022, Mr. Ramirez and his live-in girlfriend, Taylor Stanton, pawned a Remington 870 shotgun which was stolen from the B&E on September 28, 2022.

Camera footage from the pawn shop showed Ms. Stanton and Mr. Ramirez together as the gun was being sold. Both were arrested and taken to the Alamance County Jail.
