Mother of Sexual Assault Victim Charged With Obstructing Justice

On Friday, January 13, 2023, the Alamance County District Attorney’s Office notified the Sheriff’s Office that Christy Jeannine Danese violated pre-trial release conditions stemming from charges against her from November 2022. Ms. Danese was granted pre-trial release December 15, 2022.

On November 17, 2022, Ms. Danese and her boyfriend, Robert David King, Jr., were booked into the Alamance County Detention Center following an investigation of Sexual Assault of a Child. The victim is the child of Ms. Danese.

According to the DA’s Office, Ms. Danese made efforts to produce falsified documents and coerce the victim into changing statements in this case.

Ms. Danese was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Both Ms. Danese and Mr. King remain incarcerated in the Alamance County Detention Center.

Step-Father Charged With Felony Child Abuse and Felony Assault by Strangulation

On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) Investigators took a report of child abuse. Investigators learned that two juveniles, 12 and 13 years old, displayed signs of bruising and marks on their bodies consistent with that of a beating.

The children reported that their step-father, identified as Jimmy Ray Brafford, had punished them for not performing their chores to his satisfaction. Mr. Brafford reportedly fled the residence and was later apprehended by the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office at his parent’s home in Caswell County.

Mr. Brafford was taken into custody by Alamance County SVU Investigators and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

While in custody, Mr. Brafford has been served with Domestic Violence Protection Orders.

Barricaded Green Level Man Facing Sexual Assault, Kidnapping and Strangulation Charges

On Thursday, January 5, 2022 at approximately 1:00 a.m., Deputies responded to 2111 N. N.C. 49 Hwy., Green Level, N.C., to a fight in progress. On arrival, Deputies were told by neighbors, that Francisco Gomez Aquayo was fighting with neighbors who were trying to stop him from assaulting a female. The neighbors also stated that Mr. Aquayo was armed with a baseball bat.

Prior to the arrival of Deputies, Mr. Aquayo barricaded himself in his residence, refusing to come out.

A search warrant was then obtained to search Mr. Aguayo’s residence for the baseball bat that was seen and described by witnesses and the female victim.

After obtaining a search warrant, and because of Mr. Aguayo’s violent nature, the Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT), served the warrant. Mr. Aquayo surrendered without incident.

As the investigation continued, it was learned that Mr. Aquayo allegedly assaulted the female both sexually and physically.

Mr. Aquayo was charged and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Chapel Hill Woman Facing Multiple Charges After Routine Traffic Stop                   

On Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 6:05 p.m., Deputies conducted a routine traffic stop in the 1700 blk of Whites Kennel Rd., south of Burlington, N.C. Deputies observed the vehicle was being driving with an expired registration.

As Deputies approached the vehicle, drug paraphernalia was observed in plain view inside the vehicle. A subsequent search yielded suspected crystal methamphetamine, marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia, paraphernalia other than for marijuana, and a handgun which had been unlawfully concealed. Additional open containers of alcohol were also located in the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Angela Merrie Bailey, was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Fire Investigation Leads To Felony Charge Of Tampering With Power Meter

On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, Deputies responded to 1240 Norris Trl, Burlington, N.C., in reference to a building fire (storage building/shop) next to a residence on the same property. While assisting the E.M. Holt Fire Department and the County Fire Marshall with the investigation, Deputies discovered that the power meter appeared to have been tampered with.

A representative from Duke Energy responded to the scene and confirmed the meter had been tampered with. The resident of the home, identified as Gene Fitch Oliver, III, was charged and transported to the Alamance County Jail.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

County Employee Charged With Larceny and Drug Possession

On Wednesday December 21, 2022, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit concluded a month-long investigation into missing controlled substances from the Alamance County Emergency Medical Services Building. Investigators found probable cause to believe that Mr. Paul Kyle Buckner used his employee’s access to a secure controlled substances storage area in order to obtain several vials of fentanyl for his personal benefit.

On Thursday, December 22, 2022, Mr. Buckner was taken into custody and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Registered Sex Offender Charged With Second Degree Rape

On Tuesday October 4, 2022, the Special Victims Unit received a report of a sexual assault. During the investigation, Douglas Glenn Sharpe was identified as the suspect. It was also learned that Mr. Sharpe is a registered sex offender and in violation of residency requirements and notification.

At the conclusion of the investigation, a case review was conducted with the Alamance County District Attorney’s Office.

On Tuesday, December 20, 2022, warrants were obtained for Mr. Sharpe’s arrest. Mr. Sharpe was booked into the Alamance County Detention Center.

County Man Facing Charges Of Indecent Liberties With A Child

On Monday, November 14, 2022, the Special Victims Unit conducted a case review with the Alamance County District Attorney’s Office in reference to a sexual assault investigation. A juvenile victim alleged that Christopher Wayne Edwall sexually abused the victim on two different occasions. The victim stated the alleged abuse occurred while Mr. Edwall was babysitting the victim.

On Monday December 19, 2022, felony warrants for indecent liberties with a child were obtained. Mr. Edwall turned himself in to Investigators and was booked into the Alamance County Detention Center. Mr. Edwall posted bond and was released the same day.

Burlington Woman Charged After Hacking Amazon Account

On Monday, October 3, 2022, Deputies began an investigation involving fraudulent charges of an Amazon account. The victim reported that a personal Amazon Account was hacked and an item was purchased without consent.

Throughout the investigation, Detectives discovered that suspect, Jadyn Ariana Burton, had accessed the victim’s Amazon and attempted to purchase an item to be shipped to suspect’s address.

Working with Amazon security, the order was canceled and the victim did not lose any money.

On Monday, December 19, 2022, Ms. Burton was charged and taken before a Magistrate at the Alamance County Detention Center.

Mother Facing Abduction Of Child and Violation Of Domestic Violence Order

On Friday, December 16, 2022 at 5:49 p.m., Deputies responded to the 2500 block of Ossipee Front St., Elon, N.C., in reference to an assault. On arrival, the victim stated that the mother of his children came to the residence an attempted to remove the children.

The victim prevented the mother, Candice Rachelle Miles, from removing the children. Ms. Miles is under an active domestic violence protective order. The victim also stated that Ms. Miles was dragging one of the children from the house. After the child broke free, Ms. Miles assaulted the victim and fled the scene.

At 9:45 p.m., Deputies located Ms. Miles at a residence in the 1300 block of north N.C. 87 Hwy., Elon, N.C. Ms. Miles was placed under arrest and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
