Deputies Recover Stolen Items After B&E Of Shallowford Church Rd. Home

On Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 4:25 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to a report of breaking and entering a residence in the 700 block of Shallowford Church Rd., Elon, N.C.  

During the investigation, it was determined that an individual, who Deputies had dealt with earlier that day, may have been in possession of the property which was reported stolen by the victim.

Earlier the same day at approximately 12:49 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to a call of suspicious person in the 1100 block of Shallowford Church Rd. The person was identified as John Daniel Long. At the time Deputies encountered Mr. Long, there was no reason to believe the items in his possession may have been stolen.  

Working with the Elon Police Department, the suspect, Mr. Long, was located at a homeless shelter in Burlington, N.C. Mr. Long was in possession of the items which were reported stolen by the victim. Mr. Long was taken into custody and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Wanted Couple Apprehended On Felony Breaking & Entering Charges

On March 1st and March 2nd, 2023, two separate Breaking & Entering/Larcenies were reported to have occurred in the 700 block of McCray Rd. north of Burlington, N.C.  Sheriff’s Office investigators identified the suspects as Joshua Kane Whittfield and Kaleigh McKenzie Pate.

Warrants were taken out for both suspects who remained on the run until Pate was arrested on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Whittfield was arrested two days later on March 16, 2023.

Fleeing Felon Runs Out Of Gas In Stolen Vehicle

On Thursday morning, March 16, 2023, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver Nissan 370z at the intersection of Anthony Rd. and Industry Dr., Burlington, N.C., at approximately 6:45 a.m. The driver of the Nissan failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.

A short distance later at the intersection of Tucker St., and Industry Dr., the suspect’s vehicle ran out of gas. The suspect, identified as Sentorious Johnson, coasted the vehicle into the parking lot of the Fabric Outlet on Tucker St. and fled on foot.

Mr. Johnson was apprehended a short time later after a brief foot chase through a motel on Hanford Rd. near Maple Ave. in Burlington, N.C.

Mr. Johnson was found to have a firearm in his possession with another firearm located in the vehicle. The vehicle registration was checked and had been reported stolen out of Graham, N.C. earlier in the same week.

Mr. Johnson was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center where he remains.

Former Employee Facing Felony Charges After Using Company’s Credit Card For Personal Use

On Monday, February 27, 2023, Sheriff’s Office Investigators received a report of possible fraud of a company credit card.

During the investigation, Detectives discovered evidence of credit card fraud and found probable cause to charge former company employee Cody Wilson Adkins. Mr. Adkins was in possession of an issued company credit card and used the card to make unauthorized personal purchases in excess of $2,000.

Mr. Adkins was arrested and booked into the Alamance County Detention Center on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

Elon Man Charged With Felony Sexual Exploitation Of A Minor

On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, Investigators with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Division, Special Victims Unit (SVU) and Electronic Forensics Intelligence Team (EFIT), opened an investigation from a cyber tip. Investigators learned that Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) files were uploaded by an individual in Elon, N.C.

On Thursday, March 9, 2023, Investigators conducted a search warrant at an Elon residence believed to be where the files were uploaded. During the search, electronic devices were seized and forensically examined on site.

With the discovery of forensic evidence, probable cause was found to charge the resident, Robert Edward Drummond, with uploading a file containing CSAM to the internet. Mr. Drummond was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

This case is remains under investigation pending the completion of forensic examination of seized electronic devices.

Burlington Man Facing 11 Felony Sex Charges, 3 Misdemeanors Against Minor

On Sunday, February 26, 2023, Detectives with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit began an investigation after receiving a report of sexual assault against a Juvenile by an adult.

During this investigation, Detectives were able to establish probable cause to charge Gary Donnell Cotton.

Mr. Cotton surrendered himself to the Magistrate’s office Monday afternoon, March 6, 2023. Mr. Cotton was arrested and booked into the Alamance County Detention Center.

Hillsborough Man Charged With Felony Drug Possession After Routine Traffic Stop

On Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 2:38 p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Carolina Rd. and Hickory Ln., in the Carolina community north of Burlington, N.C.  The vehicle displayed an expired registration eleven months out of date.

While speaking with the driver, identified as Daquan Delmonte Outlaw, Deputies detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Deputies then conducted a probable cause search whereby 111.65 grams of a green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana, packaged individually into multiple bags. Also found was 27.65 grams of white stalks believed to be psilocybin, a stolen handgun and $1,275 cash.

Mr. Outlaw was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Three Face Felony Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

On Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 1:26 a.m., Deputies conducted a traffic in the 3500 block of Mt. Hermon-Rock Creek Rd. south of Graham, N.C., The vehicle was occupied by the driver, identified as Ruben Tapia, and two passengers.

During the traffic stop, probable cause was developed to investigate the occupants for criminal violations which included a search of each and a search of the vehicle. The search of the occupants and the vehicle revealed cocaine and methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia. The passengers with Mr. Tapia were identified as Louis Alfonso Cedras Rodriguez and Alejandro Aguilar Depaz. All were placed under arrest and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

While at the Detention Center, a secondary search was conducted where it was discovered that Mr. Rodriguez had hidden Cocaine on his person. Deputies also discovered that Mr. Rodriquez had multiple outstanding warrants along with orders for arrest from other agencies.

Eighteen-Year-Old Male Charged With Firing Weapon Into Occupied Property

On Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11:45 p.m., Deputies responded to a report of possible home invasion in the 400 block of Glen Raven Rd., Burlington, N.C.

On arrival, Deputies were told by the resident that someone was knocking on the door. The victim stated that after opening the door, a white male wearing a mask was waving a pistol. The victim identified the male as Jacob Tyler Ward. The victim immediately closed the door and ran to the bedroom. The victim further stated that three gunshots were heard from outside. Deputies discovered three rounds had struck the home. There were no injuries.

An attempt to locate Mr. Ward was unsuccessful. Deputies took information from the investigation before a Magistrate on Sunday, February 5, 2023 and secured a warrant for Mr. Ward’s arrest.

On Friday, February 24, 2022, Mr. Ward was apprehended on Cloverdale St. in Burlington, N.C., and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Deputies Find Methamphetamine During Assault Investigation

On Saturday, February 26, 2023 at 11:54 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of Apple Blossom Ln. near Green Level, N.C., in reference to an assault. During the investigation, Deputies found probable cause to arrest Rebecca Ann Bennett for simple assault.

Deputies conducted a search incident to arrest of Ms. Bennett. During the search, Deputies found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Ms. Bennett’s possession.

Ms. Bennett was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
