Alamance Co. Man Wanted On Felony Charges Of Sexual Exploitation Arrested In Guilford Co.

In June of 2022, Investigators with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Street Crime Division, Special Victims Unit and Electronic Forensics Intelligence Team (EFIT) began an investigation into a cyber tip regarding an individual believed to have uploaded child sexual abuse material (CSAM) files to the internet. The investigation lead to a suspect living in southeastern Alamance County.

In July of 2022, Investigators conducted a search warrant at the suspect’s residence where they seized electronic devices. After conducting forensic examinations of the devices, it was discovered that probable cause existed to charge Thomas Filmore Evans with uploading files containing CSAM to the internet and possessing one file of CSAM.

Before warrants could be served, Mr. Evans fled Alamance Co.

On April 25, 2023, Mr. Evans was located and arrested by the US Marshals in Guilford County and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Drugs And Catalytic Converters Found During Routine Traffic Stop

On Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 12:50 a.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop on N.C. Highway 87 South of Graham, N.C. near Kinston Ln. The vehicle was stopped for improper equipment and displaying a revoked license plate. The driver, identified as Kevin Tyler Brown, was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

As Deputies approached the vehicle, they observed Mr. Brown drop three clear baggies out of the window. The three baggies were found to contain white powdery, and clear crystal-like substances. Mr. Brown was detained while Deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle.

During the search, Deputies discovered four catalytic converters which appeared to have been cut off from other unknown vehicles. Mr. Brown was unable to produce the proper paperwork or credentials to be in possession of the catalytic converters.

Mr. Brown was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Mebane Man Charged With Indecent Liberties With A Child Turns Himself In To Deputies

On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU), opened an investigation after receiving a report of sexual abuse of a minor.

During the investigation, SVU Detectives found probable cause to request an arrest warrant for Indecent Liberties with a Child. The suspect was identified as Shawn Cornell Greene.

On Sunday, April 9, 2023 Mr. Greene turned himself in and was taken into custody.

Couple Face Charges After Report Of Sexual Assault

On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) began a sexual assault investigation. The alleged assault was reported to have occurred between an adult and a juvenile.

During the investigation it was learned that another adult, living in the same household, had knowledge of the sexual assault but failed to report it. As the investigation continued, SVU Investigators established probable cause to charge the suspects identified as Nell Ciro Aguilar-Cabrera and Sheila Brock Aguilar of the residence.

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, both were arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Snow Camp Man Charged With Sexual Exploitation Of A Minor

On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, Investigators with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Division and Special Victims Unit began an investigation from a cyber tip. Information was received regarding an individual who allegedly uploaded child sexual abuse material (CSAM) files to the internet. The investigation led to a suspect in Snow Camp, N.C.

Investigators reviewed the suspect’s uploads and found probable cause for a charge of uploading files containing CSAM to the internet. A search warrant was granted and executed on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the home of the suspect identified as Kyle Layton. Electronic devices in Mr. Layton’s possession were seized.

Mr. Layton was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

This case remains under investigation with more charges possible after completion of forensic examination of seized electronic devices.

Handgun and Marijuana Found In Student’s Vehicle At Eastern High

On Thursday, March 23, 2023 at approximately 10:30 a.m., marijuana and a handgun were found in a student’s vehicle at Eastern Alamance High School.

School Administrators quickly confiscated the items and turned them over to the Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer. Sheriff’s Office Detectives are currently investigating the incident.

No lockdown was needed nor was there any disruption on campus.

“The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office ask that parents, grandparents, and/or guardians of students be aware of your child’s activities and explain to them that weapons and drugs on campus are dangerous and illegal.”

In addition, the Alamance Burlington School System has zero tolerance for illegal substances and weapons on school property.

This case remains under investigation.

On Monday, March 20, 2023, the Alamance Narcotics Enforcement Team (ANET) and Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations arrested Jaheem Watson and Monte Byrd after a traffic stop was conducted. Officers located an assortment of fentanyl pills, two firearms, cocaine, and bulk United States Currency.

Jaheem Lashar Watson – B/M/33, Burlington, N.C.; Watson was charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony possession of cocaine, felony possession with intent to sell/distribute schedule II-controlled substance, felony maintaining a vehicle for sell/distribution.

Bond: $250,000 secure

Monte Deshawn Byrd – B/M/27, Burlington, N.C.; Byrd was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Father-In-Law, Son-In-Law Face Felony Larceny Charges

On Tuesday January 17, 2023 the owner of Ideal Comfort Heating and Air reported that numerous larcenies had occurred over several days at his business in the Union Ridge Community. The suspects had stolen spare HVAC parts, scrap metal items, and an air compressor.

Investigators identified John Baptist Moreno, and his son-in-law Larry M. Mann as the suspects. The two were charged, but were unable to be located at that time.

On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, Mr. Moreno and Mr. Mann were taken into custody and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Couple Face Felony Charges Of Theft And Pawn Of Stolen Property

On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, a victim reported to the Sheriff’s Office that her Stihl Back Pack Leaf Blower had been stolen from her vehicle while she was inside the Dollar General on Union Ridge Rd., North of Burlington.

Using the store’s surveillance cameras, Detective’s identified Larry M. Mann as a person of interest.

As the investigation continued, Detective’s learned that Mr. Mann’s wife, Tara Poling, sold the stolen leaf blower at a pawn shop the following day, Thursday, March 9, 2023.

On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, Mr. Mann and his wife Ms. Poling were arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Deputies Recover Stolen Items After B&E Of Shallowford Church Rd. Home

On Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 4:25 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to a report of breaking and entering a residence in the 700 block of Shallowford Church Rd., Elon, N.C.  

During the investigation, it was determined that an individual, who Deputies had dealt with earlier that day, may have been in possession of the property which was reported stolen by the victim.

Earlier the same day at approximately 12:49 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to a call of suspicious person in the 1100 block of Shallowford Church Rd. The person was identified as John Daniel Long. At the time Deputies encountered Mr. Long, there was no reason to believe the items in his possession may have been stolen.  

Working with the Elon Police Department, the suspect, Mr. Long, was located at a homeless shelter in Burlington, N.C. Mr. Long was in possession of the items which were reported stolen by the victim. Mr. Long was taken into custody and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
