On October 11, 2021, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office responded to Trollingwood-Hawfields Road after two calls were placed in reference to a neighbor’s home.

After deputies and a member of the Special Victims Unit arrived on scene, assessed the situation, and interviewed those at the home, Joshua Jones was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center. He was charged with two counts of second degree kidnapping, two counts of communicating threats, assault on a female, damage to real property, and breaking and entering with the intent to terrorize. After his first appearance, Mr. Jones was given a $77,000 secured bond.

For Immediate Release

On October 16, 2021, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a utility trailer and John Deere Zero Turn Mower that was stolen from the driveway of a residence. The theft was captured on the victim’s home security cameras, and the suspect’s vehicle was positively identified later that day by Alamance County Patrol Deputies. Investigators were called, and the driver of the truck was identified as the same person in the video footage of the larceny. The suspect was also linked to another theft of a utility trailer from Union Ridge Road. 

Douglas Eugene Sayles was charged with three counts of felony larceny and booked into the Alamance County Detention Center. He was released on a $20,000 unsecured bond.

Media Advisory: Deceased Female Identified

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is now able to release the name of the deceased female as Ms. Cathie Jo Latham who was a resident of Alamance County and 66 years old.

On Sunday, October 17, 2021, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office responded to Harmony Church Road where a deceased female was found in the backseat of a burning vehicle. The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene Investigations Divisions along with the Alamance County Fire Marshal, ATF, and the NC SBI were all called in to assist in the investigation.

Male Charged with Felony for Abduction

On October 14, 2021, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report regarding a missing 13 year-old juvenile. The Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit began investigating and identified a male who picked the child up and later dropped her off at a local shopping center.

Detectives charged Noah Forshee with a felony and transported him to the Alamance County Detention Center where he was given a $30,000 secured bond.

Caregiver Charged with Felony for Exploitation of an Elderly Victim

On September 15, 2021, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit responded to a report of financial fraud that involved an 80-year-old female. After an investigation, officers verified that her caregiver, Lori Coble, had taken money from the victim over the course of several months. Ms. Coble was charged with two felonies and given a written promise to appear.

Male Charged with Felony for Larceny

On  June 19, 2021, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office responded to a larceny on Durham Street. The victim said that a chainsaw was stolen and sold to National Pawn. After an investigation, Christopher Kelly Clark was charged with breaking and/or entering, obtaining property by false pretense, and larceny after breaking and/or entering. Mr. Clark was located and arrested in Forsyth County on October 8, 2021.

Male Charged with Felony for Possession of Cocaine

On October 7, 2021, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation related to a suspicious vehicle at the Glencoe Paddle Access located at 2348 Glencoe Street. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jonathan Paul Lambert II. 

While speaking to Mr. Lambert, deputies observed a partially torn grocery bag containing a white powdery substance which was later confirmed to be cocaine.  A search was conducted and an additional glass smoking device was located as a result of the search. Mr. Lambert was arrested, charged, and given a $2,500 unsecured bond.

Female Charged with Felonies for Drugs at Traffic Stop

On October 3, 2021, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle whose license plate had been stolen. During the stop, a K-9 was used for an open-air sniff of the vehicle in which he gave a positive indication. During a search of the vehicle, deputies found a lock box in a passenger’s handbag that contained packages of heroin and methamphetamine. As a result, Jamaica Morris was taken to the Alamance County Detention Center and charged.

Female Charged with Felony for Possession at Traffic Stop

On Saturday, October 2, 2021, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Alamance County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on S. NC 87 Highway towards Graham, NC.  Once the driver pulled over, the deputy noticed a faint odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After utilizing a K-9 for an exterior sniff, the K-9 indicated a positive alert for the presence of narcotics hidden in the car. Two passengers also possessed narcotics, and one was charged with a felony.

Male Charged with Felony for Illegally Modifying a Firearm

On September 23, 2021, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit seized numerous firearms from Evan Randall King due to a Domestic Violence Protective Order in which Mr. King had to surrender all weapons to the Sheriff’s Office. After consulting with the ATF, investigators confirmed that one of the shotguns seized had been modified. As a result, Mr. King was charged with possessing a weapon of mass destruction and given a $5,000 secured bond.
