Mother Charged With Felony Child Abuse

On Thursday, June 6, 2024, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Investigators were notified by the Orange County Department of Social Services (DSS) that a 42-day old infant had been admitted to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill with a broken arm.

Investigators learned that the infant sustained the injury on June 2, 2024 at a residence in Burlington, N.C. and was later taken to the hospital by Celine Wright, the child’s mother.

Working with medical personnel and DSS, Investigators developed probable cause to charge Celine Wright with one ct: of felony child abuse inflicting serious injury.

Ms. Wright was arrested on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center where she remains.

The child is under the care of the Alamance County DSS and placed in a safe environment.
