Alamance County Deputies Presented Hero Award For Assisting In The Return Of 14-Year- Missing Davidson County Girl

On Wednesday May 25, 2022, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in Arlington, Va., honored Officers who went above and beyond to help protect children.

When a 14-year-old girl was abducted in Davidson County by someone she met online and taken more than 700 miles from her home, six agencies across states came together to make sure that girl made it back to her family safely.

Early on in the investigation, it was discovered that the victim was using her Davidson County Schools issued computer to communicate with the suspect using multiple online platforms.

Alamance County Special Victims Unit Investigators discovered the same person was also talking to several other juvenile females in Alamance County.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office was able to interview these juveniles and use forensic computer technology to provide beneficial information regarding the suspect.

Lieutenants Jaleesa Alston and Zachary Ray of the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office each received a Hero Award for their hard work and dedication during the investigation.

Sheriff Johnson attended the award ceremony. Sheriff Johnson said, “This is a prime example of agencies working together to get these predators off our streets. I am very proud of these two Officers for their work in getting this child home.”
