Death Of Daniela Trejo Mendiola

Dear Concerned Individuals,

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office shares your concerns and sympathy over the tragic death of Daniela Trejo Mendiola on August 20, 2024 in Alamance County, North Carolina. As a result of her death, which occurred on a State Highway, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol has original jurisdiction over the death investigation.

During a thorough, ongoing investigation by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, newfound information spawned a request for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol’s Collision Reconstruction Unit to assist in the investigation. As a result, Joshua Thomas Brown, 38, was arrested and charged with: (1) Felony Hit and Run, (2) cited for a window tint violation.  Brown voluntarily met with investigators on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 and turned himself in.

Joshua Thomas Brown received a $50,000.00 Secured Bond and is awaiting his first appearance in Alamance County Superior Court on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
